Denver Backyard Build Out
A plain townhome backyard became a full outdoor entertaining space — a rich hardwood deck, a built-in grill station, a pergola, stamped concrete, and a cast-in-place concrete bar.
Small urban yards demand the most from a design. We used every foot of this Denver townhome lot, layering a hardwood deck, a stamped-concrete patio, an outdoor kitchen, and a pergola into one connected space — handling the grading, utilities, concrete, carpentry, and finishes from start to finish.
A blank townhome backyard
The yard started as flat grass and tired edging with no real place to gather — a clean slate with tight access to work around.

Graded, trenched, and prepped
We graded the yard, trenched in gas and water for the outdoor kitchen, and poured new concrete to build on — the groundwork that makes everything above it last.

A built-in grill station
We framed and plumbed a built-in outdoor kitchen with a gas grill and counter space — a real cooking station, run to code and built into the deck.
Shade and structure overhead
A cedar pergola frames the patio and adds shade and vertical structure, giving the open yard a sense of room and enclosure.

Hardwood decking and stamped concrete
A rich hardwood deck and a stamped, colored concrete patio define the two main zones of the yard — warm underfoot and built for Colorado weather.

A cast-in-place bar and bench
We formed and cast concrete counters and seating on site, tying the outdoor kitchen and patio together with durable, custom surfaces.
A backyard built for entertaining
What was empty grass is now a complete outdoor living space — deck, patio, kitchen, and pergola — that makes a small lot feel like an extra room of the home.
